Audio Narration: Listen to Each Paragraph
Hear how the text sounds while your eyes follow the words.
Reading and listening together is one of the fastest ways to connect spelling to sound. Each paragraph has a play button. Press it and the paragraph is read aloud in the book’s language, so you can follow along, pause, and replay.
Free, no sign-up.
How it works
- Press play on a paragraph.
- Follow the text while it is read aloud.
- Pause or replay the paragraph from the start.
- Pick a different narrator voice or a slower speed in the settings.
Choose your narrator
The narrator uses the voices available in your browser and operating system. The voice picker lists them, so you can choose the one you find clearest. The available voices depend on your device.
Slow it down
Set the speaking speed to match your level. Slower playback helps when you are starting out, and you can speed up as you improve.
Pronounce single words
In flashcard practice you can also hear a single word spoken, which helps with words that are hard to pronounce from spelling alone.
Questions
- Why can’t I find a voice for my language?
- Voices come from your browser and operating system. Installing a language voice in your system settings, or trying another browser, usually adds more choices.
- Does the audio follow the simplified text?
- Yes. The narrator reads whichever version of the paragraph is on screen, original or simplified.
