Feature

Upload Your Own EPUB, PDF or Text Books

Bring any book in a language you are learning. No catalogue, no account.

PolyglotReader has no fixed library to choose from. You bring the book: a novel you bought as an EPUB, a PDF of a classic, an article saved as text. It opens in the reader with every feature available.

Free, no sign-up.

How it works

  1. Choose Upload in the library and pick a .epub, .pdf or .txt file, or write or paste your own text.
  2. The book’s language is detected automatically.
  3. Pick the language you want translations in.
  4. Start reading. Your place and progress are remembered.

EPUB, PDF and plain text

EPUB books keep their chapter structure, so you can jump around with the table of contents. PDFs and text files work too. You can also write or paste text directly, which suits articles, song lyrics and short stories.

Scanned PDFs

If a PDF is a scan of printed pages with no selectable text, PolyglotReader can read it with OCR. You choose the language of the scan so recognition is accurate.

Your library stays private

Books, progress, flashcards and settings are stored in your browser. There are no accounts and no server-side library. Public-domain books from Project Gutenberg and Wikisource are an easy place to start.

Questions

Are there size limits or formats I should avoid?
Supported formats are EPUB, PDF and TXT. DRM-protected ebooks from stores cannot be opened, so use files you are able to read outside the store’s app.
Where are my books stored?
In your browser, on your device. Clearing site data for polyglotreader.com removes them, so keep your original files.
