Feature

Inline Paragraph Translation for Foreign Books

Stay in the original text and check the meaning only when you need to.

Most bilingual tools show two columns, so you end up reading the easy language. PolyglotReader shows only the original. When a paragraph gets hard, one tap puts the translation directly underneath it, and another tap hides it again.

Free, no sign-up.

How it works

  1. Open a book and read the paragraph in its original language.
  2. Tap the translate button on that paragraph.
  3. The translation appears below it, in slightly smaller type so the original stays the main text.
  4. Hide it and carry on, or leave it open for a tricky passage.

Translate only what you need

Translation is on demand. Nothing is translated until you ask, which keeps the reading experience focused on the language you are learning and avoids translating pages you never needed help with.

This makes a difference for learning: you try the sentence first, then check yourself, instead of letting the translation do the reading for you.

16 target languages

Choose the language you want translations in: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese (Simplified), Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hindi, Turkish, Dutch, Polish or Ukrainian. The language of the book is detected automatically.

Saved in your browser

Translations you request are saved on your device, so reopening a paragraph is instant and works without asking again. Your library never leaves your browser. Only the text you ask to translate is sent to the translation service.

Questions

Does it translate the whole book at once?
No. You translate paragraph by paragraph, when you want to. That keeps you reading in the original and keeps requests small.
Can I change the translation language later?
Yes. Pick a different target language in the reading settings and translate the paragraph again.
